Commercial solar for Malaysian businesses
Commercial rooftop solar suits factories, warehouses, retail, offices, F&B and industrial buildings with a dedicated TNB account and a structurally sound roof. Inhome Solar photographs on this page include named sites below. System kWp, generation and savings are listed only when verified — they are not invented for this gallery.
Roof suitability depends on covering, structure, shade and electrical capacity. System size follows electricity consumption and Maximum Demand, then current Solar ATAP rules for non-domestic accounts. Export credits use Average SMP and do not roll over. That is different from the former NEM programme.
Installation process
- Review bills or Maximum Demand records and inspect the roof, structure and electrical board.
- Design kWp, inverter layout and cable routes against Solar ATAP non-domestic limits.
- Prepare SEDA Malaysia and TNB documentation. Network studies may apply on larger systems.
- Install, test, commission and hand over monitoring once utility metering is complete.

Common questions
Can I export excess solar electricity?
Eligible Solar ATAP consumers can export surplus energy to TNB within programme limits. Domestic credits use the Energy Charge component; non-domestic credits use Average SMP. Excess above imported energy or MAQ in that billing period is forfeited.
How long does installation take?
Physical installation on a typical landed home is often measured in days once materials are on site. Solar ATAP application, TNB documentation and metering can add weeks around that work. Timelines vary with authority processing and site complexity.
What is Solar ATAP?
Solar ATAP is the Solar Accelerated Transition Action Programme for Peninsular Malaysia. It replaced Net Energy Metering as the current consumer rooftop programme from 1 January 2026. Homes and businesses use solar first for their own load and may receive bill credits for eligible exported energy in the same billing period.
